Here you can explicitly set the location of folders used by Opera, and configure external programs that Opera uses for various purposes.
| Opera directory | This is the location of Opera's files. Don't change this unless you know what you are doing. |

| Window storage file | This is the window storage file, used by Opera on start-up. |
| Download directory | If you choose "Open" when downloading a file, the file is put in this folder, as opposed to "Save", where you specify the folder each time. |
Programs often write information to <stdout> (Standard Output). If you want to read this information, it's a good idea to run the program call through a terminal.
| Source viewer | Choose your favorite text editor to view the source of Web pages. You can view the source of a Web page from the menu. |

| Telnet program | Telnet is used to communicate with other computers through a command-line interface. This is relevant for advanced users only. |
| TN3270 program | TN3270 communicates with IBM mainframes. This is relevant for advanced users only (see IETF RFC 1576 for details). |
| E-mail client | Select your e-mail application and set command line parameters (if necessary). |
| News client | Select your news application and set command line parameters (if necessary). |
